GIS is dead! or “I want attention for my new blog”

May 29th, 2008. Posted in Around the blogs

Silliest thing I’ve read in quite some time:

The result is that the term GIS has become irrelevant. It is effectively dead — killed by lack of use and applicability by today’s map and data creators and users

On the contrary - use of the term GIS is on a dramatic rise amongst professional map creators. They may not know what GIS actually is, and they may not own GIS software, but they get the general drift of ‘professional mapping’. Therefore they understand that GIS is a desirable thing for them to follow in the future.
